Is a Frilly for me?

ophiophagushanna Oct 10, 2010 08:33 PM

Hi everyone!
I have been thinking about purchasing a large lizard, and I am really interested in frilled dragons. Providing the bugs and the enclosure space is no problem, but how hard is it to get the heat and humidity right? Are they friendly?
I have never kept a large lizard before, but I've had tree frogs, leopard geckos, snakes, salamanders, turtles, and a uromastyx. Do I have enough experience?
Thanks guys!
Hannah

Depending on the type of enclosure you have, humidity and heat can be the easiest thing or the hardest thing. Frilled Dragons are typically friendly if handled often. They can be a bit skittish at times and will likely not be as docile as a bearded dragon but pretty darn close for most. As far as how much experience that's needed it really comes down to the research you do on the animal and if you feel 100% positive that you are able to meet all of the needs of the dragon (this includes vet bills and more). You will want to purchase a CBB Frilled Dragon because most of the other quality/non-cbb aren't in the best of shape and a CBB is the least likely to give you health issues. Taming them also takes quite some time so be prepared to work with them for several weeks to a month or more.

There's some pretty useful information if you follow the link below.
