Breeding mealworms

beardie_lovr Oct 12, 2010 02:08 PM

I have been breeding mealworms for a few years now. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that they use to separate the worms when feeding? I have asthma, it is very difficult on my breathing to sift through such a large bin for so long? Thanks in advance everyone

I don't know much about that but if you use abedding or substrate that is fine you can use a poop scoop. Also Someone said they keep superworms without a bedding just egg crates.

WOW very harsh and cruel when you do not even know my situation. Maybe next time you should just refrain from commenting. I happen to have had to heart attacks and 3 TIA's, suffer from seizures almost on a daily basis. My asthma has become so bad that I now suffer from from COPD and am always always in pulmonary distress or on oxygen. I do not give this information up like this when asking a simple question like I did, because normally you would think someone would not be attacked and called "a sissy" for trying to protect their health no matter what level or degree of a persons' illness. I keep my dragons because they are what gets me through the day and i can not have any other animals anymore due tot he hair etc.
You should really think before you speak....you truly are a very cruel person

You might take your own advice. I was sincere. I myself have asthma and often have infiltrate pneumonia. I use a dust mask....a nice one, but it works. OBVIOUSLY, now that you ranted, we know that you have more severe issues.

And my sig...is humor....you sound like you could use some.

I use to just put mine on an aquarium screen lid. I placed right side up so there was not lip to stop the mealies from crawling right off the edge. I placed this so it was supported on a couple of lengths of 1x2 lumber over a tub large enough to catch them when they fall. Put a pile of bedding/food in the center and kind of spread it out a bit and they would crawl right over the edge.

Hope this helps.
