I think my baby is older

Linda G Oct 13, 2010 08:40 PM

When I got my baby the vendor told me he was about 4 months old.
I think it is older, maybe a year or more. In all of the pictures I have looked at babies have a flat shell. Mine looks exactly like my adult just a lot smaller. Its shell is domed.

Not that its age matters at this point but what do you guys think?

Thanks, Linda

Hard to say without a photo. Can you post pics?

Different individuals will have slightly different dimensions and so can appear taller, wider, or longer than others.

I have growth data on baby turtles from hatching through 3years of age and there is quite a bit of variation from one to another, even within the same clutch.

You are right, though. All the babies I've seen have flat shell. They look just like the aquatic turtles, such as the sliders and cooters.
