Basin Emerald birth last night.

lichanura Oct 16, 2010 09:38 AM

She had three healthy babies and two fully developed dead ones. The birth is 123 days after her last shed so this is one month before I was expecting the birth. All three babies have a fully develped stripe but the one pictured is particularly well developed. I wonder what the future holds for the stripe on this guy?

That's Awesome!!!!!
That is the earliest litter of basins I have ever heard of.
That baby is smokin way to go. You should post pics of the rest of them.

Hello Ed:

Thanks for the response. I am really anxious to see the stripe development. You were the one that diagnosed the mother to be pregnant so thanks for that also. I watched the timing well as I have been told that it would be about 140 to 150 days after the shed. It was exactly 123 days. Much to my suprise.
Thanks very much for your help. And, congratulations on the birth of those 12 beauties. Unbelieveable.

Your welcome,
There is nothing better than to watch your own baby basins develope white. The first shed is great and then you can say this is the worst they will ever look in there life and then it just keeps getting better.
The shorter gestation may have something to do with temps.
Thank you on the Noel litter. I produced 4 more litters after that with a total of 55 baby basins on the ground.

55 baby basins has got to be a world record. I do not think that the temp was too high. I had it set to 88.5F and she would often be at the cooler end of the gradient. I usually wait until the first shed before offering food. What is your policy on this?

Here is a picture of the other two babies.

They are nice also. Don't be surprised if one of these 2 get as nice as the first. The pick of the litter at birth may not be the pick of the litter in the end.
Have Fun!!!
