One of my young Thayeri musks me whenever I pick it up. Usually I'm just trying to move it to a sterilite container for feeding. Is this pretty common? Will she grow out of it (hopefully)?

She should grow out of it....
But...I have to ask.y....Why are you feeding in a separate container every time you feed her?

Hi John. I do that with all my snakes to prevent them from ingesting any substrate. Thanks for the reply, I was hoping that was the case.

You can offer the food item on a "plate" any scrap of clean paper will do.

As for the food item being pulled off the plate as they eat, still no worry, they are able to handle the situation just like they would in nature. They will often drag the food item over a coil as they eat which will wipe it down or it will be pushed off with the crawling jaw action, and anything small will pass through and do no harm.

I have to side with John, the snake is clearly stressed by being handled at each feeding, and you also have to stress / handle them just after the meal to put them back in the home. That is a bigger health concern then maybe ingesting something with the food.

Oh, I thought it was a good idea to handle them ffom time to time. I thought it made them tamer. I don't touch them after they've eaten, I just place the container inside their tank and let them exit at their leisure.
