This early '09 hatchling male [ you know how "active" they are.. had to tape the container w/moss shut and he was still moving around in the container 17 hours later ] was shipped 10/26 and came out of the box 10/27 with this.. any ideas what this is about. I doubt it is a penis.. the shipping stress had to have caused it -

The above is still present as of 8a Central...

Ideas.. treatment, etc. is most appreciated!

Just look at this beauty -

Thanks all...

Looks to me like your little buddy has ingested the sphagnum moss while in transit. It will not digest in his tummy very well and the stress could have caused him to eliminate the stomach problems he developed by eating the moss. Very high in acids, the moss would have upset him for sure. Try feeding a heavy green for a few days, and a luke warm bath on the anus as well would not hurt. the moss itself can still be in the actual digestion track due to the carpeting affect the moss grows in.

I've never encountered this myself but there are several options you could probably take. One is to try to push it back in gently with the eraser tip of a pencil, then tuck the tail in (to prevent a relapse) by wrapping rubber bands over its shell. The other option is to leave it be - I have heard of these prolapses going back in by themselves, even after a couple of weeks. Personally, I would probably just leave it be provided it's being kept by itself.
