I'm old school lame, lol, and use newspaper and/or disposable cage liners. When I have used aspen bedding with my babies I always found myself sitting there using forceps to pull aspen out of their mouths while they were swallowing food. I don't display my animals, so while it doesn't look nice, paper works best for me.

I use a base layer of newspaper, and have recently started putting a large pile of shredded newspaper on top of that. my Dums seem to like it.

You can use particulate substrates if you like. Its all up to you.

What are your concerns with humidity?

no hudity concerns - th'x - after i posted i remembered that their natural habitat was very arid - some have compared it to arizona or new mexico like - i'm guessing a dumerils humidity needs are not as signifigant as most other boas??
