Why is my female Dumerils soaking every day then getting out of her water tub and urinating. I've noticed that she is soaking after my male tries to breed with her. Can anybody give me some info about this? Thanks, Reesy

Hmmmm, I have never noticed that before.
Is this a daily thing?

Yes, she was doing it every day for about a week. I think she was doing to get away from the male. How ever she was urinating every day. I have been tols that female snakes will leave urate trails for the males to follow. Could it be that this is the first year that she has been paired with a male?
Like Pat, I've never seen this behavior so really no "answer". It almost sounds like she's going into the water, taking some in, and then releasing it....why I have no idea, but I'm picturing the snake saying "ever since going to college mom, I've had that not so fresh feeling....." LOL, don't ask why but that's what I thought when I first read your thread. At this point, it looks like it's on you to figure this puzzle out. Just keep doing what you're doing, observe and report. Maybe everyone will learn something new from your experience. I can't think of a single time I've seen this behavior, even with virgin females.
She hasn't done this since I put the hide box back in with them. I think she was going in the water to try and escape from the male. The only problem with the hide box is that she goes in it and the male won't. Don't know what to do. She also keeps bucking him off when he tries to lock with her. I put the hide in 2 days ago and she hasn't gone back in the water since. Thanks for the comments, let's keep it going. I'm new to Dumerils so I'm learning as I go.
I've also noticed over the last week that she is starting to show a lot more high pinks in her coloration. Could this be due to her getting ready to breed.
LMAO!!!!! That was freakin funny!!!
My only other idea would be mites. But that doesn't explace the urinating after getting out of the water everytime though.

I've checked her thouroughly and repeatedly for mites. No sign of them. I've since pulled the male out and put him back in his own enclosure for a few days. This seemed to work with my Ball Pythons. He had stopped showing interest in her. The female has stopped soaking everyday. Wonder if she just felt dirty for being with a guy.
