Big blister like area on neck of Burmese

yvonbug Nov 16, 2010 12:09 AM

I'm not sure what it is, but there is this squishy area (about the size of an egg cut in thirds) on the lower neck on the belly of my snake. It's about 5" down from the head. His neck looks skinny and then kinda bulges out where this blister area starts. I felt it and it feels like its full of water and air bubbles. Could a mouse bite cause this? Should I do anything about it?

Any discoloration to it? Has it gotten better or worse? A photo would be nice, if possible.

Have you inspected it's body thoroughly for other blisters? Are the belly scales a normal color?

Yes, it's possible it's from a rodent bite, if you've fed it live prey. That's a bad area to have a bite or lession due to the high possibility of it getting contaminated with urine and feces. There are other possible causes but need more info.

Best wishes!

There's no discoloration to it, but I've noticed some faint pinkish streaks on the lower part of him. Not only does he have the lump, this is his 2nd bad shed. I'm haveing problems keeping his humidity up and I know thats not a good thing. I soaked him in a tub of nice warm water yesterday and loosened up alot of his skin. I just keep stroking him and it helps roll off the skin. But it still has not all come off. Maybe I should get him a waterfall to help bring up the humidity. He's got a big pan of water with a bright light over it but the humidity just wont go up. My husbandry seems to have gone downhill and I'm worried for my snake. I'm going to check out the health sheets, (they still got them here, don't they?) Oh, the pink streaks, that area is the only area that shed all the way and in one piece. Ugh, I've got to do some homework for my Howie.
