Dumerils Breeding.

Reesy Nov 18, 2010 12:54 PM

Can anybody tell me if Dumerils build follicles like ball pythons do? My female is getting quite a nice girth on her and I was curious if they retain sperm and build follicles like egg bareing species. Or are we just talking about a gestation period from the time of breeding?

Here's a pic of her in her 55.

She could be ovulating. They will have a "abdominal swell" like other snakes do.

She's a nice looking girl, best of luck with her!

Yes, they develop follicles just like others species, and you can palpate them, like you would a ball python. If you let her crawl into the cage while applying light pressure with your fingers into the belly, you should be able to feel that "string of pearls".

Awsome, she just ate yesterday, so, I'll give her a few more days to digest and then try to palpate her. I've never felt follicles before so not sure of what I'm feeling for.

I'd say do a google search, just type in palpating follicles and you should get a lot of ball python videos showing you a good guideline of what you're doing and what to expect. Different species, but same general idea. Have fun and let us know how it goes for you. Take care
