baby crickets or mites

Rhendrickson Nov 21, 2010 12:01 PM

Hello kinda new to this hobby had my monitor for about a month now and have never seen what looked like mites before. I looked into a the cage a few mins ago and saw what looked like tiny tiny crickets about ten of them. They were so small that its hard to believe they are crickets I thought I could see tiny long antenna. Way to small to grab but when I disturbed them it looked as if they jumped. Once again its hard to tell my eyes can barely make them out compared to the soil. I looked up photos online and its hard to make a comparison size wise. Just wondering what others thought.

Assuming your monitor has moist soil, one missed cricket probably deposited eggs in it, and the babies from that is what you're seeing now. They are called pin heads because they are no bigger than the tip of a pin when they come out. Very hard to see!
