Anyone with experience breeding Timors?

Jaykis Nov 24, 2010 09:44 AM

My pair are 5-6 years old, and the female is far larger than the male. She's over 8' and solid. He's about 7' and thin. I've put them together for the past 2 years with no luck. Also, she tries to eat anything that comes in her cage, but I don't think they're cannabilistic.

Well, I put them together. Anyone who knows Timors knows how flighty they are. Worse than scrubs. Anyway, I put the male in and immediately they were flying back and forth in the cage. Within a minute or so, they stopped. Male was tongueing everything, including her. She went into the hide box, but not fast. He followed her in, but also slowly. That's where I left them. Fingers are crossed. He showed no interest at all in her last year.

AND, I've gotten copulation from my olives this week!

Jay, I know they have to be at least 6 years old to breed and perhaps older. Also similar to lizards they can't be moved from cage to cage. I once bought a pair in the 80's and gave them to Don Hamper on a breeding loan and I think it took 4-5 years to breed them and they were about 5' long when I bought them...thanks

They crap on you, too. Very good aim, also. Yeah, I see Don at the Hamburg show. I'll check with him again next week. I think Knoxville zoo bred them, and that's where mine came from as juvies around 5-6 years ago. This is the first year he's shown interest in her.

BTW, Rick Hahn has a trio of pimbura.
