Hemlock Mulch

Is Hemlock Mulch (cleaned, chem-free) a good, safe substrate for Pythons?

The Hemlock tree is unrelated to the hemlock plants which are poisonous. Hemlock tree wood, bark, and pulp is not poisonous, however, the tree is in the conifer family and is therefore a type of pine or fir tree. That being the case, I would not recommend its use as a cage substrate due to the very good possibility that the natural oils in this type of wood could possibly be an issue.
