A young neighbor who wants to be a vet has a BD that has developed a sticky substance around/in it'seyes. Can anyone shed some light on this problem. The BD is kept on sand substrate. Thanks much.

A photo of the affected area would help big time, if possible to put one up you will get better results.
It could be several types of bacterias or infectious type bacteria. A Visit to the VET asap is the best idea. It DOES happen when on sand, sometimes when they either try to itch some dry shed off of their eye or scratch an annoying cricket off of their head.... Sand will fling up into their eye and cause a slight infection. They will more than likely prescribe you a Sterile Antibiotical Ointment.

Many things can cause excess discharge of liquid from the eyes, from just a minor irritation from sand or dust, to a serious infection. Best thing to do is have your neighbor take his dragon to a qualified herp vet for examination.
