dragonzilla Nov 29, 2010 01:20 AM

alright I have a few dubia roachs starting a colony. I saw a medium sized roach pooping out a straight brown thing at first I thought it was eggs but checked on youtube and it almost looks live they give live birth to larva. I wish I had a picture it was like 1" long coming out the rear it wasn't a male roach it didnt have long wings. ANtone have any Idea what this was or have pictures of eggs or info jsut want to learn a little. Also if a couple of dubia roaches escape can the infest your home like cockroaches? thnaks in advance

Dubia roaches are ovoviviparous. The eggs hatch out inside the female and they give birth to live larvae.

FROM WIKIPEDIA:
Lifecycle

Mating occurs when the male deposits a sperm packet in the female. This sperm packet inhibits the female from further mating.
Females then lay an egg sack, they then pull this sack back into themselves to incubate ovoviviparity.
Gestation is about one month (28 days).
The babies hatch inside the female. Between 20 and 40 live young, each about 2 mm long, are produced in each clutch.
Babies mature in about 4–6 months depending on temperature and food supply.
Adults live 1–2 years.
