One (or maybe two) of my pregnant mice dropped 15 young today while I was at work. When I came home to check on them I noticed that one of them had been ripped in half and was removed from the nest. Is this normal? Will it continue to happen? Is this a type of natural selection process that the mother mice institute?

Thanks in advance for your replies,
Anthony-

First litters tend to have a high cannabalism rate...especially with stressed mice. I would ignore it and let them see what they will do with the rest and or litter number two. Mice will teach you patience.
