Argentine black and white tegu?

Spawn16 Dec 09, 2010 06:19 PM

I have had a quite a few years experience with an iguana when I was younger. And also a Ball python.
I was looking into the Argentine black and white tegu.
I have Plenty of space for it. And am very dedicated to owning one. Is there anything I should Know about it? Any tips?
I have read countless care sheets and I know almost everything about them. But I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for owning one. Maybe from experienced owners.
I have been wondering a lot about the diet especially. How should it be varied? I know what they eat. But at what ages should they be fed what? How much? Daily? How often should they be fed when babies? Juvies? Adults?
I would love to hear any tips you guys have.

EVERYTHING you need to know can be found at

Bobby Hill (Varnyard) is the most reputable breeder of tegus that I know of. He's a stand-up guy and is ALL ABOUT tegus. I've emailed him questions about tegus I've purchased from him, only to have him CALL me on the phone to discuss the matter--very cool.

That, and his tegus are AMAZING.
