thailand's "tortoise town"

i just learned about this place in thailand where the villagers keep free-roaming tortoises as "communal pets."

if i ever find myself in thailand for any reason, i'd definitely want to visit! can anyone identity what kind of tortoises these are, out of curiosity?

Peter Pritchard mentions the village in a finely illustrated article about the elongata/travancorica/forstenii complex in the February 2000 issue of Reptile/Amphibian Hobbyist.
