Bismarck Ring Python info

kingtrop Dec 10, 2010 04:51 PM

Hi,
does anyone know at what age and size that rings can be bred safely? Also, what time of year do they go, and do they need a cooling period?
Thanks for any help.
JQP.

Tom Keogan should be around soon. He's produced some outstanding looking Ringed pythons. Especially the ones without rings

Here's hoping. I am up in Canada, and there aren't too many people up here who work with them, so the information is practically non existent.
Thanks for the reply.

JQP, safely is a relative term! Normal females can breed and lay eggs between 3-5 years of age and 4-6 feet long. Males can be bred at 2-3 years 3-6 feet as long as they don't get eaten by their larger dates! They do require a cooling period of about 10-15 degrees. Season depends greatly on what part of the planet your on. I am in South Florida and they start breeding for me Jan-March with hatchlings in July-August. They will eat each other as adults and hatchlings sometimes. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Another question, what is the range of an average clutch size?
Thanks in advance, I'll try and post photos of the pair if I can get them to sit still long enough.
JQP.

Would you happen to have any ringeds available now?
