new blood doing good but...

calebjg Dec 10, 2010 06:09 PM

So Ive had her since the week before thanksgiving and she was blue.Well I was sure she hadnt shed until I read some thread on her about finding the sheds. So I dug around in her sphagum moss hide and sure enough there it was in a little smushed ball. Most my snakes leave the shed all wrapped around their cages.
She has eaten twice and taken a huge dump as well.So I will get a pic this weekend because I think she looks thin so I need someone to have a look a let me know.I also wonder how old she is per her size( I know many variables there)..
Having a little trouble with keeping heat from fluctuating in the bin.I have her in a heated room but our house is sooo old and drafty its always a challenge to keep the snake cages or tanks stable.Over all Im pretty happy with her, a little aggressive but not overly so.

She doesnt look so thin but feels kind of loose.I dont know not fat and tight.I have zero experience here with bloods so maybe she's fine.
Anyway I wonder about how old she is.The guy said he had her for around 6 weeks, he got her through the mail from a breeder..So any ideas?
Also after looking at all the beautiful bloods on here she isnt so pretty anymore. Will her colors get better or stay the same?

Nah, she's not too thin. Not overly plump but not too thin either. Is she still feeding well?

She looks like a 2010 hatchling so she was probably born sometime late summer.

What range of temperatures does it fluctuate between? And how are you heating the bin?

She's a nice looking little snake, and they do go through quite a transformation as they mature. There's ALWAYS going to be one that's prettier so I wouldn't get too hung up on that.

She has eaten great so far.F/T right from the hemostats.
I have her in a bin with a piece of 3 inch flex underneath on one side.
I have her stacked on the bottom under another bin with flex on the bottom too. Both hooked to the same thermostat set at 88-90 but the top bin gets hotter (it has a young boa).the hot spot is 94 in there but only 84 on the bloods cage..Maybe I have a piece of defective flexwatt?
You'd think with the flex on the bottom and the flex on the top her cage would be hottest..
Heating is just the suckiest part of snake ownership.
