Hi, we just got a lavender albino california king snake today. He is only about a foot long and we have noticed twice, in the couple of hours that we have had him, that he is bleeding from his cloaca. His hemipenes were exposed aswell. I'm not sure what this is causing this but I'm really worried about our new little guy. Does anyone have any advise how to help or what is causing this? We don't want to go to the vet unless it is completely necessary. Thank you! -J and M

if it were just the hemipenes I wouldn't worry as much, but w/ the bleeding, I would head to the vet, but thats me. Where did you get him from, was he "popped" to be sexed? you could try a warm soak (some say w/sugar if the penes are still out & look "stuck"and wait to see if it gets better, if you plan to bred him, a vet visit is no doubt in order!

Thanks so much! We have been monitoring him today after trying the sugar/water dabs. His hemipenes still become exposed but the amount of blood has decreased. And we had actually gotten him from one of our friends cousins and we are strongly believing he tried to pop him to tell us the sex. Hopefully he will get better soon but if he doesn't then we will go to the vet. Again, thanks for your advice! -J and M
