Well after 188 days incubating, my first rio pip'd this morning. Such a rush to finally have success with this project. Looks like only 4 of the original 9 are gonna make it. This was my first attempt hatching heloderm eggs as well as a very young females first clutch. I lost a couple eggs due to weak spots in the shell bursting open and a couple just went bad in the first month or so.

Just wanted to thank Steve Angeli again for the great breeding stock and for sharing all the knowledge with me. Also a huge thanks to Dr Seward for all the great advice and lizards.

Don't worry I'll share pics soon!

psst ...coming soon super hypo rios he he !

Congrats Dennis!

How about giving us some tips! My female laid her first clutch last year and all eggs quickly went bad in the incubator. I used the double container method the Dr. talks about in his book. I've since talked to a few people that just use hatch rite for beaded eggs. If you dont mind me asking I'd also like to know what temp you used. I really love all the heloderms and cant wait for my always increasing colony to all reach breeding size.

Thanks man, and Happy New Year!

Bob

Congrats Dennis. It must be thrilling to see that first one after years working with heloderma. I hope to be as fortunate next year with some excellent Angeli offspring now adults.

Thanks for all the kind words! I am the Lizard King! ha ha
Maybe it was beginers luck....but all 4 I expected to hatch are out n apparently healthy now. For what its worth, I incubated ghetto style in a converted hovabator I raised the sides on with some styrofoam and regulated the temp with a porportional thermostat....used fine vermic 2/1 by weight with water at 80.5 f. After the eggs collasped and the first one pip'd I raised the temp one degree to stimulate the hatch....fyi I noticed all babies were born thirsty and enjoyed a good drink right after comin out my incubator...My first lizard out ate a pink rat yesterday already! More pictures later. Heres Mamma again...Peace
