ORANGE GATOR

emysbreeder Jan 07, 2011 06:13 PM

Anyone see the "ORANGE" Gator in Fl.on the news. I just cought a bit of it this morning on a news show. You couldn't tell much about it but it just lives in small pond somewhere in Fl. It would make a great UF mascott! I hope it wasnt painted, looked kinda of fake. I can see it now in the back of a Blue pick-up at a Fl.Gator's football game! VM

Here's a pic, notice the dark splotches towards the rear and underside. Pretty cool if it's a real color variant.

That almost certainly is on the surface of the skin. It doesn't look at all like it is actually a color within the tissue.

Looks like he layed up in some rusty water more than anything else.

I still have pics of those 'white' Niles. That was a pretty interesting setup.

This pic is still a bugg'in me. It looks like its been sitting in some rusty water, maybe a old barge hul, but they said it was a lake. Clay pit? i,ve seen very clay stained Cottonmouths before. You got think how hard it would be for someone to put something on it like paint. Where is real investagative news when you need it! Anyone got this figgured out yet. What could it be? Where is this lake at? VM

Winter time, the gator is probably spending some time in it's den and it's picking up the color there. Our Niles are spending allot of time underground recently and they all are off color due to sediment sticking to them.

In the photo it is clearly9 at least to me) on the surface of the skin.
