I recently found out that I have the opportunity to fly for free to Arizona from March 1st-March 10th. I was wondering if this is a good time to go field herping. I want to find Arizona Rattlesnakes and Gila Monsters.

March is definitely a good time to hit AZ, as it's before it gets too hot. Do your research and talk to some guys that herp AZ regularly. The state's got probably the best selection (most varied) of Crotes in the nation!

Depends on what part of Arizona you'll be in. You can find animals out and about in early March, but it all depends on when, where and how you look.

Hiking washes on a warm early March day is a good way to find both rattlesnakes and Gilas...

Good luck!
