Morelia Bredli questions

quasimoto Jan 08, 2011 04:27 PM

Hey all, I have decided to make the jump from boas to pythons, and have pretty much decided on a Bredli python, I just love their looks

My question to any bredli owners (or anyone that knows) is where you got your bredli python and the cage dimensions you keep them in as adults. I am looking to get a sub adult/adult, and have room to build a 60 x 24 x 24 cage, any thoughts? Also, do they retain arboreal tendencies as adults? I really like the idea of a snake that utilizes branches in the cage, unlike my boa haha.

Thanks everyone

Rory

Also, does anyone have any experience keeping a male and female together outside of breeding activities? I was thinking it would be cool to have get a juvenile pair and house them together until they were subadults, then get them their own caging. A 5x2x2 cage seems like it would hold two bredli till the subadult stage, any advice? I know the usual issues with feeding/stress that could arise and would feed separately and make sure there is plenty of hide and basking spots so neither gets stressed out. Thanks for the advice guys

I strongly believe in housing snakes separately and feeding inside their cages, which cant be done when housed together. Bill

Rory,
My '06 adult male climbs around regularly, especially at night.

They're excellent climbers and VERY strong... love to eat while perched!

This is a pretty common sight here:

Many people keep pairs or even trios of carpets together all year, myself included.

I seriously considered this female from Jordan Russell, I know he is breeeing them, but I was impressed with her size. For some reason I always underestimate the size of the bredli's
