not eating and need help

lizardman24 Jan 09, 2011 04:43 PM

hi. i have a baby leopard gecko, roughly around 2 months old. recently he stopped eating, and is getting skinny. my mom feels that we shouldnt take him to the vet, even though i begged her. her temps are 92 on the hot side, and 82 on the cold. i have a hot and cold hide. he is on tile, with an undertank heater. i have tried mealies, crix and waxworms. any help would be great. thanks guys

The warm end should be about 80 F., and the cool end should be in the seventys.

Try putting him on a newspaper, papertowel substrate. Make sure there is plenty of water in his tank that he can reach, probably betwen the cool end and the hot end, so it won't evapirate so fast.

You need to have a moist hide for him to go into, and it will help him when he sheds. Put the moist hide just inside the warm area.

Don't put to many crickets in at one time, because he could feel overwhelmed. Two start, throw about three in at a time and see if he will eat those, and if he does, then put in three more, until he his done eating, and then take out the extras.

Don't feed adult crickets at his age.
