Goodbye Uro lovers=)

Hello all,

I've been a lurker here since I got my first Mali in 2001 and have enjoyed all of the very valuable information. I left for a year or so after my divorce and returned last Spring with my new pair of Bandeds from Doug. You may remember recently my post about them biting...which unfortunately only increased in occurences and intensity over the last month. So, as of two days ago, I found a new home for them in MO at Big Time Reptiles (no worries, they were NOT shipped in this cold cold weather). After talking to Lynn numerous times I know they are in a better home where they can be 'tank art' or make babies and no more stress of a 4yo wanting to play with them daily.

Which leads me to a happy ending....I returned to Beardies almost 10 years in Uro's in an effort to find a more reliable, kid friendly personality and a reptile that would enjoy being handled. Today my little girl and I made a trip north to meet a potential new family member and came home with what I swear is her little lizard 'soul mate'=) He's just a sweet teddy bear and seemed to really take her in stride. Faith Ann has named him 'Despicable Me'...Desi for short He's already eating and settling in quietly in his tank this evening....just as interested in watching us move about and live life as we are in him.

So, we will still be lurking here I'm sure but 'moving' to the Beardie forum.

Thank you for all of the support and information over the years and who knows, maybe we'll be back someday! Until then, take care=)

Molly and Faith,

Congratulations on your new Bearded Dragon.

Glad you were able to find a home for the Banded Uromastyx without shipping them.

I was worried about the male biting the female’s tail after your original post about it.

Best of luck with your new Dragon!

Troy

Thanks Troy!

Yes, I was worried about shipping them too after I got your email. I wouldn't want to hurt them and we were in a bit of a pickle once he started biting her...and then after the second bite, I knew it was either try to get some of my investment out or just take them down to a price someone couldn't refuse for their own well being...their health won out over my pocket book..ouch! I was fortunate though as they went to Lynn at Big Time Reptiles whom I felt would appreciate them and give them a good home. He said they arrived safely but that my little 'girl' may very well be a boy...go figure! And he said that they were small for their age which concerns me. I was very careful about temps and diet so the only thing I can think of is maybe there was stress involved with Faith wanting to hold them all the time and them not wanting to be held. I feel terrible about that.

In any case, it sounds like they have a more appropriate home now and we are loving our new little beardie...he is a cuddle bug with Faith...so happy ends to all=)

Thanks Troy!
Molly
