shipping prices

With ShipYourReptiles still down, shipping can be a problem, especially on critters under $100. UPS and FedEx can be expensive, even with an account. USPS (postal service) does offer express overnight shipping at incredible rates, but keep in mind that even though they guarantee overnight shipping to most areas, they can get delayed and take 2 days. In any case, 40 hour heat packs and good insulated boxes are a must and can be the difference between healthy arrival and DOA. I just wanted to share this info as it may help everyone with todays expensive shipping prices! Good Luck

ShipYourReptiles will be back up live with FedEx shortly. Within days.

As for USPS, it is illegal to ship snakes with USPS, that should ALWAYS be mentioned when recommending their service.

Here is a statement on the USPS website about shipping live animals. Also, with speaking with several USPS representitives, I have been told that shipping most non-venomous reptiles is within the allowable content.

copied statement from USPS:

Mailing Live Animals
Customers shipping live animals must ensure all packaging requirements are met. Live animal shipments may be presented at any Post Office; however, the service standard may be affected depending on the availability of transportation from the drop-off site.

Customers sending Express Mail shipments containing live animals should expect a 2-3 day transport of their shipment. Shipping early in the week is suggested, and holiday weeks may have limited acceptance days and times. Express Mail postage will not be refunded unless the delivery or attempted delivery is more than three days after the day of mailing.

Well, I still have not been told "no" to shipping most non-venomous reptiles via USPS by any of those from that company that I have spoken to, but with the legality in question, it should only be used in the most necessary instances. Fortuneatly there is a new company stepping up to help us with our shipping rates. I now use ShipNEX.com with FedEx and have saved more money than ever on overnight packages! Check it out if you want to save $$$ on shipping!
