To COOL! I have kept burms and retics and i have to say I like the retics a little better myself also. They seem much more alert and active than my burms used to. Good luck with your lavender. That lavender will get brighter with every shed.

Congratulations! That is one fine looking roving rodent disposal unit! We have two female tigers, and they are super awesome to have. I had my reservations about retics before getting them, but they are the best. Good luck with him!

thanks! yeah i was pretty skeptic at first, but hes pretty docile , you can reach in his tank and grab him up, but we have been using a hook, becuase i heard and read up its good to hook train them. he'll let you rub all over his head, and i think i've started a bad habbit, first thing that he wants to do is climb up on my head and pearch on my ponytail, and thats gonna be much harder to handle in several months haha were pretty excited about him tho!

Sarge2004 Jan 17, 2011 09:16 PM

Very good that you are hook training him. Sooner or later the legendary retic feeding response will show up. Are you feeding him inside or out of his cage? Best of luck with him. Bill

as of right now we are feeding him inside his cage.

Sarge2004 Jan 18, 2011 12:56 PM

Excellent !!! That is the correct thing to do, especially with retics. Bill

Congratulations on your new retic. Of course I am partial to the purple's LOL
If I may offer some advice. I have seen, heard and read about people who "power" feed their retics in order to get them big as quickly as possible. I am really against this. I just feel that while the animal has the potential for fast growth, mentally they dont keep up with their size. I don't think there is anything worse than a 15' snake with the mentality of a 4' snake.
Just my opinion on the matter. And it will save on the food bill LOL.

thans and i agree! Thats why we got a male! So it wouldnt get AS big! We deff are not power feeders, and dont want to harm him or any of our other snakes in any way, exspecially by doing that. We arent in ANY hurry!

tzabcanbalam Apr 02, 2011 12:37 AM

it's a good retic! I have a retic tiger and I can't wait for to see it very big!!! I think that you too jojo

does it eat well??

madeline0burns Apr 02, 2011 09:18 AM

he is eating live rats perfect, but we are having problems getting him to switch to frozen thawled rats. I am just like you though, I am excited to watch him GROW BIG
