Well, this forum is slow...

So... Is anybody having success with breeding their Spilotes?? My pair have been together for about 1.5 months. They are being heavily misted every day or so. So far, I have not seen any breeding although I have seen the male courting the female and have also found sperm plugs... I'm crossing my fingers for some eggs in the near future!! I also have an extra female that's fatening up.

Here is a couple picture:

I have been crossing fingers for eggs as well. I am debating throwing a trio together and setting up an additional lighting system.

I wish you great luck and I hope we both get nice drops soon!

Best of luck to both of you.
Nic, please keep me in mind if you do get any eggs. I have been looking for some CBB spilotes for some time now.

Thanks

You both have very nice looking animals. Best of luck on the breeding.

I don't have any but have been seriously looking into them. Not much info on successful breeding techniques available. The one I did find he used short day/long night cycles as well as heavy misting to induce breeding along with a slight temp drop to simulate winter conditions.

If you'd be willing to share I would be interested to hear what your approaches are to breeding.

Thanks,

Right now, I'm doing pretty much what you heard... Shortened light cycle and heavy misting every day...

I'm hoping for eggs this year. Mine have been pretty busy so we'll see.
