A different Tree Boa

boidsonly Jan 23, 2011 01:46 PM

Since we are posting some photos, here are two photos of one of my locale female Corallus ruschenbergerii's. F2 started out as a solid gold baby and has slowly undergone a color change that has resulted in what, I suspect, is her final coloring. The F1 has retained her patternless gold with the exception of black flecking on her tail. It has taken 3 years for them to finish their color changes.
Anybody else working with ruschenbergerii or annulatus?

Best regards,
Jeff

Spectacular! Such a wonderfully muted pattern....been on my horizon for a long time. Need to research their range, we have a home being built on Bastimientos Island..off the coast of Panama on the Caribbean side....not sure what Corallus would reside there? Would love to spotlight some someday!

These are S.A. locale-the prettiest of the species.
You should be able to find ruschenbergerii on your island. They are much darker and less heavily patterned than the Costa Rican ruschis for some reason-but still attain the great size they are famous for.
Annulatus is also endemic to Panama; have no idea about your island. They are found on Barro Colorado Is on the isthmus so they may be a possibility as well. I would be very curious to see photos of whatever you find on the island.
Ungaliophis is also found in Panama, btw.

Best regards,
Jeff
