How many square feet do you have dedicated for the project?
What kind of budget?
This can be done cheaply or as elaborately as you can afford.
I build portable enclosures for our exhibits and I could walk you through the cheap route or give you some ideas on the more expensive way.

If you can do both greatly appreciate it. I am not really sure working on just designing the cage. We are going to be moving in the near future and will be building it then so all opinions, angles , ideas or photos would greatly be appreciated. Thanx in advance.

My thoughts on cheap involves lumber coated with either fibreglass or truck bed liner and corn crib fencing. This is the design we are currently using. When I get down to the shop, I will take some pictures as we are working on the lumber end. I think the entire exhibit is 20'X10' with about a total water area of 10 Sq Ft.
The more expensive and what I would do if I were going to design a indoor enclosure would involve styrofoam block carved with a hot knife, coated with rapid set cement and sealed and using acrylic for the walls.
check back tonight PM for the first pics.

Let me know if it's easier to do by email explain it all and pics? I will be waiting I thought about expensive way but don't know where to get the large styrofoam, what to seal with and all that stuff. Any help will be good on either way thanx

We started with a lot of 2x4's and ran them on a table saw so that I would get two true 2x2's. Cheaper than buying 2x2's at the store. Set the 2x2's up on a miter saw so correct angles could be cut. Used those for the frame of the tank. Skinned the frames with 3/8" plywood, but thicker plywood would be better for a permanent enclosure.
Here's a pic of the tank before it is sent to the bed liner sprayer.

I used the same concept for the tank to make (8) panels that make up the long sides of the enclosure and (4) panels to make up the short sides. Everything is bolted together with the appropriate length bolts. Then a deck is made for basking. This pic we are in the process of putting the sides together and decking it with 1x4's

More pics to come

That looks awesome. I always have problem with frame and angles. Do you only use the spray bed liner or have you ever used the roll on kind? That is some nice work.

Angles are not so hard. what you see are 45 degree angles which means that the sides that meet are 22 1/2 degrees. Easy enough to set up on a table saw.
I am fortunate to have a friend that does spraying so he does it for cost. I have no experience with the roll on kind but I would expect similar results. What we usually do for our mobile enclosure is a vinyl liner.

So is truck bed liner completely water proof? Don't they tear through liner? Do you have to treat wood or bed liner after after put down I am really interested in ur design. Also what do you use to seal concrete to waterproof if you went that way? Can't wait for more pics...

Truck bed liner is completely water proof and there is no way any sized crocodilian would tear through it. There is always the chance of a leak but as long as there is complete coverage of the lining material there should not be any.
As far as concrete goes, the key is to use Rapid Set mortar mix. Although it has a short working time it does not crack or shrink. You can mix small batches at a time and trowel or hand spread it onto diamond wire that you have fastened onto whatever frame you have designed.
We just finished the lumber part and today the tanks go to be sprayed with bedliner.

Still working on the deck and the tanks were sprayed last night. Keep in mind we are building this to be portable so its a bigger pain in the butt than it should be.
Acrylic sealer should do the trick at a couple of coats. When I seal driveways and porches the water beads up on it.
The animals will be in the water by the 9th of Feb I believe. Not expecting any toxicity issues. As far as concrete goes, I wouldnt expect any leeching once its sealed.
No new pics as of today. All I am doing is putting on braces to support the deck. Maybe Monday I will have some new pics.

Just picked up the ponds from the bed sprayer. I think they turned out well. Just hope I dont have any leaks.
I am not familiar with Rustoleum epoxies but I would imagine it would get expensive and difficult to be consistent with.
I will be setting up the enclosure tomorrow and share the pics. Only thing left to do is build a fence around the enclosure.

Depending on how industrial of an area you live in, I would start with a google search for styrofoam block in your region. Another place to ask would be prop making companies. They carve styrofoam for video production movies. They may steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for the photo use. I will of course give you photo credit. If you have photos of the completed project it would be appreciated.

I made similiar ood enclosures in the past but they where not as 'clean' as I am not much of a carpenter and used a different sealant. I have never tried the bed liner but I like how it looks.

I think this would be a suitable enclosure for your spec. I still have to tally up the total costs.

I will put together a materials list as these vary in price from place to place.
