Are Bredli's nippy?

biogeek2 Feb 01, 2011 08:28 AM

Does anyone have pics of adults? How big do they get?
Are they much the same as a jcp(I have a very nasty little bugger myself but he is getting better).
Also would a 4x24x24 be big enough or would they need something bigger?
Thanks all.

Im still looking into my options.Ive pretty much decided against a brazilian rainbow because of the humidity thing.
But I absolutely love that chocolate brown on those Centralians.
I am also looking into a Woma.

My bredli was never nippy.

The only time he's ever tagged me is during feeding and he'd miss, or if something spooked him. (happened once)

My JCP on the other hand was hell on wheels, but he calmed down REALLY nicely.

Here are a couple pics of each:
These are from April of last year- he's an '06:

His enclosure, which is 4x2x2 I think:

My JCP (don't have him anymore- sold him and regretting it every day...)

Wow, that is pretty impressive and some great pics.Bigger then I expected but very pretty.
That jcp is very outstanding as well, to bad you sold her off.
Im not sure if I want anything so big, dont think Ive got the room without kicking my hubby out(lol).

They get to be 5.5 to 8 feet, gender being the biggest factor, around 3 inches in diameter at their widest. My 3 1/2 year old male is 7'8" and weighs just under 11 pounds.

If by "nippy" you mean repeated striking that makes them a pain to handle, then no. They'll occasionally strike by mistake when they're about to be fed or have just been fed, but a few precautions can prevent this. They are touchy and sometimes aggressive when in shed, during which mine (who rarely bites) twice tagged me as a juvenile. They have a reputation for this, but it probably varies with the animal.

Other than that they are amenable to handling and very docile.
