Another shot!
Just curious, do you think the chicken diet has led to such a quick growth rate? Is there any precedence for that? I have an '08 male couperi and he's just now getting to that size. He has been on an almost completely rodent diet for his entire life. I just started raising a female Texan and might start giving her more avian prey if it would equate to quicker growth and/or larger adult size.

I feed them quail, rats, mice and anything else they'll eat for the first year. I feed the chicks to sub-adults and adults for
what Ive observed to be the ease in digestion. Time from eating
to crapping seems to be shortened by a day. I have a friend that
has a large couperi collection that feeds mostly rodents with
occasional chicken or fish thrown in and all his couperi are healthy and robust and he gets good clutches every year.
All the drys are capable of Hog status from what ive seen and
rubidus especially. Hope that helps!
Your rubidus certainly look well cared for. Alan has to be credited with bringing most of the existing rubidus into the captive population. Several years ago he was able to acquire adult snakes that had been languishing in another collection. It was a leap of faith on Alan's part. He was able to bring them back from the brink with remarkable care and attention. Alan was rewarded with several good clutches of rubidus eggs two years ago. It's good to see that he has more on the way again.
Thanks Steve! I do my best with the art of meticulous husbandry. If anything I go overboard pampering these drys.
Other then having a pair of his rubidus and unis. Alan has always been totally accessible with his knowledge and wisdom.
His passion really shows through his animals. The dry community
owe a debt of gratitude to Alan and yourself also!
