Looking for opinions.....

PBM Feb 17, 2011 03:43 AM

Hey everyone, since this is the forum I most often go to, I figured I'd see if I can get your opinions. Here's one of my rat racks that I build. They're made out of vinyl and use concrete tubs. I could use different style tubs, and go 3 wide, 1 wide, whatever. But, this is the basic design I like. So, here's what I'm wondering....Offer them to the public????

that rack looks fantastic and i think you should offer them for sale.

i'm about 1 year away from breeding my own rodents (when i get a few more snakes) and something like that is exactly what i would want to build or purchase if the price was right.

I'd have to make some calls to get an idea which way would be best as far as shipping. If you three are interested in them, send me an e-mail and I'll get more detailed in my replies there. Thanks again, glad to see a positive response.

I don't raise my own rats, but if I decided to, I'll hit ya up. Those are nice.

That's a fantastic looking rodent breeding rat. There are a number of considerations to think of when deciding whether to sell them or not:

-Could you build and sell them for a price comparable to other racks on the market?
-Do you have a reliable source of building materiels, and how much would you need to buy for a quantity discount?
-Do you have the time or desire to build a bunch of them if the racks start selling well?

Regardless of what you decide to do, that rack looks terrific.

Thanks for the reply-Answered your questions below

-Could you build and sell them for a price comparable to other racks on the market? YES
-Do you have a reliable source of building materiels, and how much would you need to buy for a quantity discount? YES, and if demand warranted it, I would just buy from the manufacturer for a substantial savings over current pricing.
-Do you have the time or desire to build a bunch of them if the racks start selling well? Yes, and I like to make jigs for things so I can actually put together a rack very quickly.

My main concern right now is making them easy to break down and re-assemble for the potential customers.

I'd say give it a shot. It's cheap/free to market online, and it looks like you're building a high quality product.
