Survivor Redemtion Island

GTPJAKE Feb 23, 2011 10:35 PM

I dont have a photo for this one, in fact im having the hardest time trying to identify what I think is a viper on the stock footage on the first episode of survivor redemtion island. It aired 2/16/11 its at aproximately 40 minutes and 8 seconds in. It is a green (viper) with red, almost gtp, markings, a white belly, and rough scales in the face. Any guesses?

Haven't seen the episode but it sounds like Bothriechis schlegelii, the eyelash viper. Found from Chiapas, Mexico on down through CA into northern SA. Found primarily in lowland coastal areas although there is one possible subspecies referred to as the mountain eyelash viper B. s. supraciliaris found only in Costa Rica.

Seeing that Redemption Island was filmed in Nicaragua this is a likely candidate.

Yeah Big T, Since it was filmed in Nicaragua, I have to agree with it having to be an Eyelash Viper(B. schlegeli). That is basically what it has to be from the description unless it was a "planted" snake from a totally different region.

The poster must also keep in mind that they come in a MYRIAD of different color/pattern phases too, and basically no two are identical.
