New Pictus Coloration

dac343 Feb 26, 2011 09:46 AM

Ok so I know better than to get my hopes up, but I'm just loving the color on this little guy. Both are from the same parents/clutch the one I'm excited about is 3 days old the other one (shedding) just hatched out today. As you can see there is a stark difference in coloration. I've noticed on average this female usually produces lighter color pictus but this one is by far the lightest (almost amel looking) I'm hoping the coloration hold out but we shall see.

The lighter color one is a Xanthic. It is a fairly common recessive trait in pictus. I recently sold my xanthic breeders but still have a few eggs incubating and 1 baby out. They are really pretty little guys and keep that light color. As adults they will have a nice golden color instead of the normal brown.
