After months of treatment, we think our jcp x diamond is in the clear of his respiratory infection. Antibiotics had to be changed twice after two rounds of each did nothing.

Wednesday, he ate his first real meal in over four months. Let's cross our fingers and hope this means he's finally on his way to a full recovery.

That's great news. I hope he continues on this track, best of luck.

Thanks you guys. Got his mouth open tonight and looks like all the mucus is gone! Woohoo! Let's hope it means its gone completely! And his strong dislike of me is back! I'll know he's 100% when he bites my husband, lol.

when i have been unfortunate enough to have to deal with RI i have used fortum, it is not as harsh on theyre kidneys as bytril and does cause burning either.... one injection every 3 days 3week course normally does a mild case i had one animal i thought was on its death bed 12 weeks later and increased dose she came good and is powering along now

obviously keep stress to a minimum only clean them out when doing the injection otherwise leave enclosure covered with towel, increase temps, make sure they have clean water availible, do not feed until they are over the RI

Not surprising. Also known as Fortaz, this antibiotic ceftazidime is one of the best for RI in boas and pythons. It has a very broad spectrum of activity and is effective against most gram negative bacterial species. Thanks,

Kelly
