GTP on the Floor?

gregsofla Mar 06, 2011 10:58 AM

Hi,
i have a Cyclops mt. locale GTP, and has been doing great, but yesterday i noticed it was on the ground floor of its enclosure, i'm not sure why. i just need to know if this is anything i should worry about. it is feeding well, and just shed 2 days ago. it is 8 months old. any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Greg

Hey Greg,

It's probably nothing to worry about. Sometimes they like to sit on the floor. If it's eating and defecating normally then there is probably nothing wrong.

If the animal was an imported specimen you should make sure it is parasite free. Most vets can check for internal parasites with a small fecal sample. If it's clean then great, if it has something you can treat accordingly. It's worth the $. I've seen numerous imported animals that do well for quite a while then crash suddenly due to a buildup in parasite load.

Terrestrial GTP's... the next craze in ball pythons. LOL

Thanks Rico,
I have since fixed the problem. I think its temps were too high, so i got a larger enclosure and lowered the temps a bit. The snake is doing great now, it wasn't an import either so it narrowed it down for me. nice pic with all of them on the floor lol
