Nigel Marven on Conan with king cobra

I have NO experience with cobras or any highly venomous snake species but Nigel looked a bit foolish with a king cobra when he was on Conan O'brien last night. Could that cobra have been a venomoid or was Nigel just careless? Any thoughts?
