S.E Arizona trip

Max0331 Mar 13, 2011 05:19 PM

I am going to be in the Tucson aree over the next week. I am wondering if anyne more familiar with the area could tell me weather or not I have much of a shot seeing and photographing any Black tailed rattle snakes this early in the year. Ive been monitoring the weather and it looks to be in the mid and high 80s all week. Thanks for any input.

You might get lucky. I would try the lower elevations of there habitat. I saw a lepidus in the Chiricahuas in March 2 years ago! So any thing is possible. I would go the the Az. herp. society's web site and ask on there. Don't ask for locations, or give any on there. They will rip you a new one!!!
Good luck and keep us posted.

Roger that! Thankyou. I am not a keeper of "hots" anymore but still love to see them in the wild. Will post pics of anything I may see.

I didnt spend as much time as I would have like to as far as looking for reptiles. But I did see my first Gila Monster and a WDB. So as far as seeing the Gila and being able to make a check mark on my reptile life list. I deem the trip a success. Will be going back During the Monsoon season.

Maybe we will bump into one another. What was the circumstances of the Gila sighting? Time temps ETC?
