Moving with turtles

Rouen Mar 18, 2011 02:58 PM

Hey all, it's been probly 3 years since I posted here. I'm planning a cross country move later this year, however I can't find any info regarding legalities. I'm looking at either California or Arizona and need to know if keeping three toeds is legal there. I can't find anything definitive on state sites. Anyone know?

Typically, only the States where Terrepene species occur have much in the way of laws governing import, export, and possession.

First: find out if you can legally remove the turtles from the state where you are currently living.

My guess is that California and Arizona do not have any regulations regarding Terrepene spp. beyond adhering to the Lacey Act.

I'm not sure either but in my state and I think it most others that have restrictions of the sale and possession of turtles-a document from your vet stating that the turtles are healthy and that he has seen them for such and such time (to validate your possession of them) will help. When I filled out my permit I had to list how and where I got each of them. Good luck with the move. Tess
