Super Dwarf Retics

T.J. Mar 21, 2011 05:01 PM

I have been looking into acquiring some superdwarfs and have noticed that no one I have contacted advertising "100%" superdwarfs can seem to provide pics of the sire and dam or any lineage info. Has anyone else experienced this? Can you steer me in the right direction? Thanks all

Keep in mind that if it's a morph it's never truly 100% pure SD; all morphs have been crossed into SDs and dwarfs, at least as far as I know. That said, if it's been crossed back into dwarf or SD lines 3-4 times...like, SD female to morph male, 50% SD hets to breed to each other, then outcross to another female SD...breed those siblings together...

Also some SDs are still wild caught and imported; in that case they won't have photos of parents (my Kayaudai male is a WC).
I know Retic Ranch does some work with dwarves, dont' think they have any superdwarfs available now (I'm hoping they produce albino SDs this year)

Thanks for the info. I understand all of that, but I was kinda hinting at the fact that there are poeple out there (you know who you are) trying to get superdwarf money for animals that wouldn't be considered superdwarfs. Just do your homework before you buy and buy from a breeder not some bs middleman.
