difference between leo's and fatty's???

geckoejon Mar 22, 2011 05:01 AM

hello, thinking about getting a new project and doing a little research.

just wondering from your experience the difference between fatty's and leo's such as temperment, care, hardiness, ect...

also just wondering your opinion as to why leo's are so popular and fatty's not as widespread. because they aren't as colorful maybe? some of the new fatty morphs are pretty nice, but leo's still are very aesthetically pleasing thanks...

Although I have never owned fattys I do own two leopard gecko and can tell you right now that leos are a bundle of fun. I really cant tell you everything they do or anything, there just so much fun and definitely very good for beginners and experts alike. They're possibly the best pet for someone who likes to go on vacation as they can go 3-4 weeks maybe more without eating. You would have to try to kill them. I'm not sure but I think that fattys are not as widespread just because leos were domesticated before them and have many more colour morphs. I think that fattys are pretty much the same as leos except with different colours.

I have heard of some people who keep Fattys just like their Leos and they do fine, but generally they require a little different care - including greater overall humidity. There is lots of good info out there to be found.
