Do radiant heat panels heat the ceiling

joann42 Mar 24, 2011 09:36 AM

If I have a RHP (80 watt) inside a wood enclosure will it heat the wood ceiling its attached to?

Will the heat work its way through the wood up to the next cage?

Thanks Jo

It can heat the ceiling a little, especially if the cage height is low, like 12 inches. But the amount of heat is not predicatble or guaranteed to stay a certain temp.

The warmer the room, the warmer likely the heat above the RHP will be. Through 3/4 inch thick wood, it will not be tremendous, but you may feel it warmer to the touch than the surrounding area.

Leave a 1/2 inch gap between cages and it will not even matter.

Thanks, I was actually hoping it would a bit.The cage above has a CHE but it could do with a bit of warmth(5 or 10 degrees) near the bottom.I didnt want to run any flexwatt though.
