cage height???

geckoejon Mar 28, 2011 07:31 AM

hello, i was wondering your recomendations as far as cage height goes. iyo, would 18" be enough to have a small dome heat lamp on the inside of the cage? investigating the possibility of setting up a beardy enclosure in a wooden cage with plenty of floor space, but only 18" tall. want to use 10.0 florescent and small heat lamp. thoughts/ideas??? thanks...

24" is much easier to work with

18" is fine for a bearded dragon cage, as long as your heat light is not a UVB Mercury Vapour bulb. Also you don't want the basking spot to get too close, unless you use a 'cage' around the heat bulb to ensure your dragon can't jump up and accidentally come in contact with it.

Make sure you have a good digital thermometer with probe and/or a temp gun to measure the surface temps of the basking area.
