S. Mississippi....critters are crawlin'

greenlantern44 Mar 28, 2011 01:21 PM

The wife and I had some spare time today, so we decided to walk down to the local ponds. Was a nice overcast morning, found a beautiful speckled king laying right in front of us on the trail as we were walking to the first pond! Here's a list of what we spotted, have pics, but no way to post them(library computer, lol):

2 good size cottonmouths
1 gorgeous speckled king
2 mississippi green water snakes
1 unidentified dark colored watersnake(not a green, but to fast!)
numerous southern painted, pond, and green turtles
spotted frogs every two feet!
4 blue tail skinks
and way way too many fire ants!

Have been taking tons of pictures with my phone, but don't know how to post from my phone, anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a great day of herping.

Photobucket has a mobile upload option as long as your phone has internet you should be able to use that. Basically once your photobucket account is set up you email your photos from your phone.

I will have to try that, would really like to share some of the pics that I have taken, pretty much everything is a target with us, everything from mushrooms and flowers to insects to reptiles, lol

the were taken with my phone, so bear with the quality.....

a very beautiful cottonmouth, very fat and in the same place everytime, was careful to snap the photo and sneak away.

speckled kingsnake, took it home to take some pics and show a friend, let it go today.

Mystery turtle, am thinking a pond turtle, but really unsure, anyone know what species?

and finally, not an animal, but pretty cool none the less, a very neat and stinky mushroom for ya'll...

I have more photos, and always taking new ones, so I will share more tomorrow or later today....
