found injured Phrynosoma solare...

tumamoc Apr 03, 2011 11:24 AM

Last week, I found this horned lizard on a construction site. I call him "Neelix". He was thoroughly encased in clay mud and couldn't move, a la Han Solo in carbonite. I sprayed him off and discovered that it was a Phrynosoma solare (Regal Horned Lizard). He seems to be a paraplegic; he can't move his back legs. I've tried to feed him harvester ants, but he won't eat them. Hopefully, I can find a shelter (or a herp enthusiast) to take him in, but, so far, no luck.

Any advice on how I can get it to eat?

Update. I returned the lizard back into the wild to let nature take its course.
