Wildfires in West Texas

chrisdrake Apr 10, 2011 04:02 PM

Just saw this article and thought I would share. Sounds pretty bad out there. Hope everyone comes away from it okay. I know its dry here in Houston and most of Texas is bone dry right now but out west is the worst.

They said on Sunday evening's news that 60 structures in Ft Davis had been destroyed.....that's REALLY bad.

There have actually been a few fires in the area. At least two are still burning. The main one started a couple of miles west of Marfa and NW then north up to the Davis Mtns. No human fatalities known so far, but lots of homes lost and lots of domestic animals killed.

I'm heading up to Marfa today for a few days of work and plan to take a cruise through the Davis Mtns (if allowed) to survey the damage.

Keep us updated Daryl. What a horrible situation. We need rain here but I hope they get some first.
