My new Rhino baby has shedded all but the last 4'' of his tail . I have kept the humidity at 45-70% , 70% at night and in to mid morning and 45% by the afternoon ever since i hot him , and after he calmed down and stated eating good ( 3 weeks )he now gets a soak in the bath every day for 20 min. and i also mist him twice a day . BUT the his tail still will not shed the last 4'' . Is this anything to worry about ?

Thanks !!!

robert, glad he is coming around. How long has the shed been stuck there? If you are soaking him that much I wouldnt worry about it. Rhinos shed constantly and a new shed will start before the previous has finished and they are like that their whole life.
If its still there towards the end of the next shed you could take your fingernail and slowly pick it off. I wouldnt worry though.
If its driving you crazy you can help it along. Sometimes I do that too. It gets your lizard used to you messing with it. You may want to hold off since yours is so young cuz of the stress.

It's been about two weeks since he shed the rest of his body . I also think his head needs to shed . its brown like his tail and the rest of his body is light green . I don't mind his tail and head being that way as long as its not a problem . He's eating good and will also eat while i am watching him , so he's coming along . I think he may be starting another shed like you said . He has three diferent colors going on on his body ,dark green on the last place he shed , brownish green on his middle and brown on his head an tail .

Thanks for the info !!

YOu give him some orange and yellow veggies to your iguanas.... They have beta-corotene and vitamin A, which helps your iguana maintain healthy and vibrant skin, and thus, aid it during shedding. You can use winter squash, carrots, and yams. Just grate them and mix them right into the salad. Winter squashes seem to work the best and they are very healthy, containing less calcium oxalate than carrots and yam, and more nutritious than yam.

I have have been giving him winter and acorn squash, carrots, and yams . I just started giving him the summer squash a few days ago , so hopefuly it will help . I saw your post before on this subject so that's why i started feeding him the winter squash . :]

That's good to hear. I got most of my idea from this site: www.anapsid.org.
